Before the tractor came Alice the horse. Unlike many soldier settlers who were inexperienced in farming, Dad did grow up on a fruit block, that of his father, in Merbein. Alice was obviously critical to the establishment of our farm and our livelihood! I suppose John and Margaret would remember her, as they were both around at the time! I look forward to hearing their stories as they read this.
